ANS President Professor Peter Schofield presents Dr Mehdi Adibi with 2022 AW Campbell Award
Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute (BDI) researcher, Dr Mehdi Adibi has gained the coveted 2022 A.W. Campbell Award from the Australasian Neuroscience Society (ANS) in recognition of his important contribution to neuroscience.
The ANS is considered one of Australia’s largest biomedical societies and is the height neuroscience physique in Australia and New Zealand. The award recognises essentially the most excellent contribution by a member of the Society throughout their first 5 postdoctoral years.
Dr Adibi was offered with the award on the ANS Annual Scientific Meeting by ANS President Professor Peter Schofield. As a part of the award, Dr Adibi delivered the A.W. Campbell Lecture the place he spoke to members of the neuroscience neighborhood about his analysis on how the mind creates a coherent notion of the world, and the way we are able to harness this data to supply wealthy tactile perceptions utilizing vibrations.
In congratulating Dr Adibi, Professor Marcello Rosa, Head of Monash BDI’s Neuroscience Program, mentioned, “This award speaks to the cutting-edge research we are doing here at the Monash BDI and a great opportunity to showcase our great work in neuroscience discovery research.”
“Congratulations to Dr Adibi on this significant achievement, a true testament to his hard work and dedication,” mentioned Professor Rosa.
Dr Adibi, a member of Monash BDI’s Neuroscience Program, investigates neural computations and their underlying neuronal mechanisms for sensorimotor processing and notion. His lab focuses on the sense of contact and tactile system.
The A.W. Campbell Award commemorates the eminent Australian neurologist whose guide “Histological studies on the localisation of cerebral function” in 1905 based cerebral cytoarchitectonics (the mobile composition of a bodily construction or cytoarchitecture).
