Those charges are among the many highest within the US and characterize a principally Latino inhabitants. But Latinos are underrepresented in Alzheimer’s scientific trials. Physician and neurologist Dr. Gladys Maestre is altering that at her NIH-funded Alzheimer’s analysis middle within the Rio Grande Valley, the primary of its type in Texas. She’s utilizing a “place-based” method to dementia care, bringing her Latina id and cultural data to research the social, environmental, and organic components that affect mind well being.
